EFCC arrests 20 internet fraudsters in Benin

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested twenty suspected internet fraudsters. The arrest which was carried out in a joint operation with officers of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin, followed intelligence report on their activities. They were nabbed in a surprise raid on their Cyber office tucked in an old building located on Siluko Road, Benin City.

At the point of arrest, the fraudsters had in their possession forty five (45) laptops of different make, twenty eight (28) telephone sets, eight (cool internet mobile modems and one Nissan car with registration number USL 375 AG.

WAHALA BURSTS AS POLICE AND NAVY CLASH IN LAGOS

LAGOS — THERE was pandemonium in Apapa area of Lagos State, weekend, when some armed naval personnel and policemen from Area B Police Command clashed.

Two policemen allegedly sustained injuries, police patrol vehicles and an Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC, were allegedly destroyed.

Vanguard gathered that the incident occurred last Friday, after a team of policemen attached to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, accosted two naval ratings on a motorcycle riding against traffic at Trebo Roundabout and allegedly impounded their motorcycle.

The incident was said to have thrown the entire area into panic.

According to reports from Peacefmonline.com,Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson is featuringNigerian rapper, Ice Prince in her new movie. According to what we gathered, the 'Oleku' hitmaker has already shot some scenes for the movie.

The movie, which according to unconfirmed reports is title "House of Gold" is produced by Yvonne and it also has Majid Michael as another actor to star in it.

Ice Prince has once been reported to have a crush on Yvonne, who was reportedly dumped by Iyanya, after a rumoured affair between each other.

Chris Brown, Frank Ocean fight at recording studio in LA

Openly gay R&B singer/songwriter Frank Ocean claimed on Twitter today that he was attacked by Chris Brown and a 'couple of guys' at a recording studio in LA last night.

Sources close to Chris told reporters that Frank Ocean started it by blocking Chris and his crew as they made to leave the studio. Another report claims they fought over parking space, while another claimed Ocean called Rihanna a 'Hoe' and that enraged Chris who attacked Ocean. Police was called to the scene of the fight but Chris and his crew had left before they arrived. Frank Ocean was questioned but no arrest was made and no one is pressing charges...

CAF dismisses Egyptian ref who officiated Nigeria vs Zambia match

The 36 year old Egyptian referee who officiated the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Chipolopo of Zambia on Friday January 25th, has been dismissed from the on-going 2013 Africa Cup of Nations as a result of poor officiating.

Ghead Grisha awarded a controversial penalty to Zambia in the 85th minute which enabled them draw level in the group C match.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF immediately sent a protest letter to the Confederation of African Football, CAF, asking the football governing body to look into the questionable call by Grisha.

A top official of CAF said today that Grisha 'has been sent home. He will have no further action at this Cup of Nations. His decisions did not tally with best practices of the refereeing profession and we would not allow anyone to start re-writing the rules of the game here'

Kris Humphries Rejects Kim Kardashian’s $10M Divorce Settlement

RadarOnline reports that reality TV star, Kim Kardashian is offering her estranged husband Kris Humphries a whopping $10 million to settle their divorce but the NBA star is not having a cent of it.

“After Kim filed for divorce, she offered Kris a $10 million payoff, with the agreement that he would not continue to pursue an annulment to their marriage on the grounds of fraud,” the insider says.

Kim’s representative responded in a statement, “This is obviously yet another inaccurate report that lacks facts. No such deal was ever made.”

However the New Jersey Net star is opting to prove that his 72-day marriage was a fraud in the court of law.

“Kris flatly rejected the offer because it has never been about  for him,” the source says. “He wants to be able to marry in a church again, with a clear conscience, when he finds someone special. Kris is deeply religious and he believes that the only way he can do that is if his marriage to Kim is annulled.”

Their divorce trial is reportedly scheduled for the middle of June to accomodate Kris’ busy schedule which means the proceedings could happen around the time she gives birth to her first born with Kanye West in early July.

“Kris wants to move on with his life just as badly as Kim does – he is constantly getting heckled by NBA players and fans – and he just wants to be able to close this disastrous chapter in his life once and for all. If Kim would just agree to grant him the annulment, they could both move on with their lives.

Karen Igho Drops N50m Assault Case Against Smirnoff

In December 2012, Karen Igho was allegedly assaulted by a security guard stationed at the Smirnoff party in Lagos, who slapped her. Karen also claimed that she was pointed a gun at by the same security man who slapped her after allegedly demanding for money from her at the car park which she refused.

Soon after recounting her ordeal on twitter, the Big Brother Africa 2011 winner threatened to sue Smirnoff in the sum of N50million naira.

Just yesterday, Karen took to twitter to announce that she has dropped the assault charge against Smirnoff and has decided to settle the case out of court. She tweeted, "settling out of court about my assault case."

Even though some of her aggrieved fans and some human rights activists will not be too happy about this latest development, others have hailed Karen's decision of taking the case away from court in order to move forward.

"I woke up this morning and this thought wouldn't leave my head: The 7 deadly Sins".

I don't know why it kept ringing in my head as I hadn't watched a movie or even read anything similar to the subject before I went to bed or even in recent times.

However, never being one to ignore the signs, I decided to do a little research and read up on "The 7 deadly sins" and it definitely was an eye opener.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Proverbs 6:16-19. "There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:

Haughty eyes, (Pride),  A lying tongue,(A Liar), Hands that shed innocent blood,(Murderer), A heart that devises wicked schemes, Feet that are quick to rush into evil, A false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community"(Gossip).

The real 7 sins however are; Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride.

Lust: Doesn't relate to just anything sexual, but relates to an obsession with pleasure. A disordered desire for inordinate physical enjoyment. Anyone who can't get enough of a "good" thing so much that it turns bad is lustful.

Gluttony: Gluttony isn't just about excessive eating, it pertains to wanting anything in excessive amounts even when you have no use for it. Anyone who wants more than they need or can make use of at any point in time is a glutton.

Greed: Pertains to an obsessive desire for material wealth and Power. A desire to amass any and everything the world has to offer. Anyone who revels in the attainment of wealth and power in order to be better than and/or have control over others is greedy.

Sloth: Sloth is a kind of spiritual laziness as opposed to mere physical fatigue. It means not making it a priority to do what we should, or change what we should in ourselves. Some people might call it apathy, which means a lack of feeling. An example of sloth is someone avoiding to do the right thing due to a lack of personal motivation.

Wrath: Wrath or anger is an emotion that makes us want do hostile things to each other. It isn't the "anger" itself that is the sin, but the actions it leads us to should we allow it to. An example of an action anger can cause is vengeance.

Envy: Envy is the love of what other people possess, rather than what is Good, Beautiful and True. Anyone who covets what people around him/her have and wishes it was theirs is envious.

Pride: Pride is actually at the root of all sin.  That is why it is listed first and that's why I'm talking about it last. This is because pride is first and foremost inherent in all sin. Proud people are those that look condescendingly on others. They look at others as inferior in an arrogant way and see themselves as better than everyone else.

It is pride that makes you envious. It is pride that makes you angry. It is pride that makes you greedy. Pride is the root cause of lust! Of gluttony! and if you look closely, of sloth too. Laziness comes out of believing,you're too good to do something or an action is beneath you, therefore you do nothing.

In conclusion, after my research I believe that if we all let go of pride, a lot of wrongs in the world would turn right.

It was time to announce the winner, Cvon called the top 3 finalists on stage. There was alot of tension from the audience and the contestants but you know there will always be one winner.

At the end, Ehiz, 25 year old graduate of Lead City University, Ibadan was announced the winner.

He won a  N10m contract with MTV Base  and a brand new KIA Cerato.

Kim Kardashian offers Kris Humphries $10 million to finalise their divorce

She previously claimed she felt ‘handcuffed’ to Kris Humphries because he refused to divorce her.

But it seems Kim Kardashian’s cuffs are set to stay on a little longer, as the basketball player has reportedly turned down a $10million offer to settle their case.

According to RadarOnline.com, Kris, who is asking for an annulment on the basis of fraud, refused to accept the monetary payment in order to bring their lengthy divorce battle to an end.

Woman Burns Girl’s Thighs With Hot Iron

A 39-year old woman has burnt a girl’s thighs with hot iron after accusing her of stealing her N1,000 at Oshodi area of Lagos State. The woman, Mrs. Kudirat Isekolowo, who lives at  Igbehinadun area of Oshodi, said she did not know what came over her when she carried out the act.

The mother of three was arrested by officials of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, and Esther Child Right Foundation and brought to the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

Traders were close to tears at Oshodi Market where the woman sells clothes, when they saw how the thighs of the 15-year old girl (name withheld) was seriously burnt, leaving permanent deep scars on her body.

The little girl was sent by her parents, who live at Agege area of Lagos, to live with Isekolowo and serve as apprentice in her clothing shop. She started living with her in November 2012.

At the WAPA Ministry, Alausa, there was anger when government officials saw the deep wounds on the girl’s body, while they described the woman as extremely wicked and needed to be punished severely.

Apart from the deep wounds on her thighs, there are also wounds all over her body, occasioned by constant beating and maltreatment.

According to the girl, Kudirat accused her of stealing her N1,000 last week, but she denied stealing the money.

She said the woman plugged a pressing iron and made sure it was very hot and pressed it on her two thighs and one of her hands, leaving deep wounds on her body.

“I am not the one who stole the N1,000. She said I took it and I denied it. She plugged iron and pressed it on my two thighs. My parents live in Agege, they asked me to live with her and learn how to sell clothes as they don’t have money,” she explained.

On why there were other wounds all over her body, she said Kudirat usually beat her with wire. Kudirat admitted carrying out the act, saying that the girl stole her N1,000.

“She stole my N1,000 last week and I don’t know what came over me.  I know what I did is bad.  I don’t know what happened to me when I did it,” she said.

Kudirat wept when she knew that she could go to jail for her wicked act. Even her close friends who came with her felt very bad when they saw the degree of damage to the girl’s thighs.

Executive Director, Esther Child Right Foundation, Mrs Esther Ogwu said she got a call from the founder of Compassionate Women Initiative, Mrs. Mary Olasupo, about a woman who burnt the thighs of a little girl with hot iron.

“We moved in immediately with the WAPA officials and arrested her and brought her to Alausa. At Oshodi market where we arrested her, traders were screaming when they saw the wound in the girl’s body,” she explained.

Esther said it is now left for the state government to prosecute her in accordance with the child right’s law to serve as a deterrent to others.

According to Mary, the founder, Compassionate Women Initiative, “a woman called me some days ago to intimate me about the incident. She told me that a woman had an apprentice, whom she accused of stealing her N1,000 and then used hot iron to burn her two thighs. That was when I called Esther Child Right Foundation for help and they came.”

Officials of the state government have vowed that the woman would be prosecuted and be made to pay for her callous act.
