You are one of the multi-talented few in the industry…

When people ask me what I do, I say I am an entertainer. I am an actor, writer and a comedian. I produce my own TV show as well and I am going into films soon. Everything I have been writing, I keep for myself except for a few.

Does this have anything to do with your background?

Possibly. I studied Theatre Arts at the Delta State University. After graduation in 2002, I headed to the Nigerian Television Authority, Lokoja for the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps.

You were once the personal assistant to Richard Mofe-Damijo

Interestingly, I met him in a rather unusual way. I wanted to sell a movie script and I went to his office. I was trying to convince him to buy when he showed me more than 30 scripts lying fallow in his office.  Somehow, we bonded and he offered me the job of a personal assistant, which I accepted on the spot. He taught me the business side of entertainment. It was in his office I learnt how to write proposals, meet clients and branding. We are still very close and he is more or less my father.

Why did you host a one –man show?

I think every comedian deserves an opportunity to entertain his audience at a full stretch. The norm in the industry now is that people host shows and feature so many artistes. In as much as it is a good thing, a comedian should be able to hold the attention of his audience for as long as possible.  One-man shows are not common in this part of the world but I pulled it off successfully.

Call it the director’s creativity or mischief, the movie, Oga at the top, is out. Quite similar to the viral ‘Oga at the top’ quote, the movie features popular Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, also known as Osuofia. Although the viral quote stopped trending on Twitter after a week of dominance, Nigerians put their creativity to test as they made T-shirts, mugs, songs and jokes about the error made by the Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Obafaiye Shem, during an interview on Channels Televison.

Efforts to reach Osuofia proved futile as his mobile phone was switched off when Saturday Beats tried to reach him. He did not also reply to a text message sent to his phone.

American rapper Lil Wayne, has revealed that he is epileptic and as as result, he is prone to seizures when he doesn’t have enough rest and overworks himself.

Speculations have blamed use of sizzurps for the 30-year-old’s constant health issues, but in a new interview, Wayne, whose new LP, I Am Not a Human Being II will be in stores on Tuesday, broke his silence on the issue.

“The bad news is I’m epileptic so I’m prone to seizures,” Wayne explained. “This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures. Y’all just never hear about them. But this time, it got real bad because I had three of them in a row. With the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself.”

Wayne also stated that he has never experienced three consecutive seizures before and the last experience was more dangerous than the previous cases.

“I have people around me. I’ve actually had [seizures] so much, they already know what to do. They already expect it. They already know how to handle it. Certain times I don’t even go to the hospital but this time it was real bad because, like I said, it was three in a row. I’ve never had three back-to-back like that and the third one was so bad.”

Pope Francis has washed and kissed the feet of 12 detainees in a youth detention centre near Rome as part of the Maundy Thursday service.
The Christian ritual takes place on the Thursday before Easter to commemorate Christ’s Last Supper.

Thousands of pilgrims and tourists are arriving in Rome to attend ceremonies during the holy week ahead of Easter.
In a homily, Pope Francis earlier urged priests to do less “soul-searching” and engage more with parishioners.
“It is not in soul-searching… that we encounter the Lord,” the Pope told hundreds of cardinals, priests and bishops in St Peter’s Basilica.
“We need to go out… to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters.”
Worshippers should “leave Mass looking as if they had heard good news”, he added.

During Thursday’s intimate service, Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of 12 young detainees to replicate the Bible’s account of Jesus Christ’s gesture of humility towards his 12 apostles on the night before he was crucified.
The 12 prisoners included two girls, one Italian Catholic and one of Serbian Muslim origin, local prison ombudsman Angiolo Marroni said ahead of the ceremony.
Some of the prisoners volunteered to have their feet washed, while others were given an invitation to help them overcome their embarrassment, the Catholic News Agency quoted the prison chaplain as saying.
In total, around 10 girls and 40 boys from different nationalities and diverse religious confessions were taking part in Thursday’s Mass at Casal del Marmo on the outskirts of Rome.
The newly-elected Pope has brought a new sense of simplicity to the Vatican.
He has broken with tradition for the foot-washing ceremony, which is normally performed on lay people in one of Rome’s basilicas.
Pope Benedict XVI visited the centre in 2007, but not for the Holy Thursday Mass. Only for the first two years of his pontificate did he perform the feet-washing himself, after which the task was delegated to priests.
Easter is the most important festival in the calendar of the Catholic Church.
On Good Friday evening the Pope will carry a wooden cross and pray at a ceremony at Rome’s ancient amphitheatre, the Colosseum, commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion.
On Saturday evening Pope Francis will celebrate the main Easter Vigil Mass in St Peter’s Basilica.
And on Easter Sunday morning, Pope Francis will deliver his first “Urbi et Orbi” message to the city of Rome and to the world.
During his inaugural general audience on Wednesday, Pope Francis called for an immediate political solution to the conflict in the Central African Republic after last weekend’s coup.

AMVCA: Why Genevieve lost to Jackie Appiah

Result of the recently decided AfricanMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards unsettles a tradition, ANN OKON  reports

 Genevieve Nnaji is, no doubt, the darling of many movie fans in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The multiple award-winning actress, model and brand ambassador has managed to attract the admiration and following of millions people globally.

That is why it came as a shock to many of Nnaji’s fans when, Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah, emerged winner of the 2013 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Actress in a Drama Category, beating Nnaji and others.   This is despite the fact that Nnaji’s red carpet look took centre stage at the event, where she wore a white buttoned down dress with a deep plunging neckline that afforded a generous view of her breasts.  Indicating the good and the bad, several media outfits could not resist flaunting her on their cover pages many days after.

As to why Genevieve did not win the awards, she, like some of her contemporaries that lost the game, seem to have failed to mobilise voters while the competition lasted.  MNET Managing Director, Mrs. Abiola Alabi, explained that the voting system decided the fate of the nominees at the awards, adding that in addition to being great actors with huge fan base, it was important for the nominees to reach out to their fans and make sure they voted for them.

Speaking during a party organised by MNET to celebrate the  winners, Alabi said, “We have received many calls from people asking why the nominees they expected to win the awards lost out. The awards event is a viewers’ choice oriented and winners are not chosen by the judges. They are voted for by the viewers. It is the trend in such programmes and I think this is a lesson for all our performers that they should always remind their fans to go out and vote for them at such occasions.”

The winner of the best actor in a drama series, O.C Ukeje,  who won the awards for his role in the movie, Two Brides and a Baby,  said he sent out some BlackBerry messages to his fans, reminding them of the awards and asking them to vote for him.

“Apart from that, I also have plenty of friends who are constantly on Facebook, Twitter and BlackBerry, sending messages on my behalf,” He recalled.

Speaking on the phone from her base in Ghana to our correspondent, Appiah said her fans from all over the world contributed to her victory by voting tirelessly for her.

When our correspondent contacted Genevieve’s friend and representative, Cosmetic company owner,  Chinny Onwugbenu, for comment, she declined to speak , saying she was mourning someone and that she is out of the country.

SAFRICA: MANDELA IN HOSPITAL WITH LUNG INFECTION

Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid leader who became South Africa's first black president, has been admitted to a hospital with a recurring lung infection, South Africa said Thursday.

Mandela, 94, has become increasingly frail in recent years and has been hospitalized several times since last year, most recently earlier this month when he underwent what a presidential spokesman described as a "successful" medical test. The Nobel laureate is a revered figure in South Africa, which has honored his legacy of reconciliation by naming buildings and other places after him and printing his image on national banknotes.

"I'm so sorry. I'm sad," said Obed Mokwana, a Johannesburg resident. "I just try to pray all the time. He must come very strong again."

The Nobel laureate was admitted to a hospital just before midnight Wednesday "due to the recurrence of his lung infection," the office of President Jacob Zuma said in a statement.

"Doctors are attending to him, ensuring that he has the best possible expert medical treatment and comfort," the statement said. It appealed "for understanding and privacy in order to allow space to the doctors to do their work."

It did not identify the hospital. In December, Mandela spent three weeks in a hospital in the South African capital of Pretoria, where he was treated for a lung infection and had a procedure to remove gallstones.

Zuma wished Mandela a speedy recovery, referring to him affectionately by his clan name, "Madiba."

"We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family and to keep them in their thoughts. We have full confidence in the medical team and know that they will do everything possible to ensure recovery," the presidential statement quoted Zuma as saying.

Mandela spent a night in a hospital and was released on March 10 following a medical test. At that time, presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said Mandela was "well."

In February 2012, Mandela spent a night in a hospital for minor diagnostic surgery to determine the cause of an abdominal complaint. In January 2011, he was admitted to a Johannesburg hospital for what officials initially described as tests but what turned out to be an acute respiratory infection. He was discharged days later.

He also had surgery for an enlarged prostate gland in 1985.

Under South Africa's white-minority apartheid regime, Mandela served 27 years in prison, where he contracted tuberculosis, before being released in 1990. He later became the nation's first democratically elected president in 1994 under the banner of the African National Congress, helping to negotiate a relatively peaceful end to apartheid despite fears of much greater bloodshed. He served one five-year term as president before retiring.

Perceived successes during Mandela's tenure include the introduction of a constitution with robust protections for individual rights and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a panel that heard testimony about apartheid-era violations of human rights as a kind of national therapy session. South Africa still struggles with crime, economic inequality and other social ills.

Mandela last made a public appearance on a major stage when South Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup soccer tournament.

He had spent more time in the rural village of Qunu in Eastern Cape province, where he grew up. He was visited there in August by Hillary Clinton, who was U.S. secretary of state at the time.

Doctors said in December that he should remain at his home in the Johannesburg neighborhood of Houghton for the time being to be close to medical facilities that can provide the care he needs.

But Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to return to England and the pouting Portuguese coach rarely speaks without an agenda. According to sources close to the self-anointed Special One, Real Madrid Manager Jose Mourinho is once again the chosen one. ‘I cannot deny what is clear in my mind,’ Mourinho said recently. ‘After Real Madrid, England, that’s for sure. I keep saying the same, I know clearly.’

He said he could manage ‘everyone’. That he is ‘a professional’ who would have to consider offers from other English clubs should they come.

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Mourinho, while Sir Alex Ferguson has made no secret of his admiration for his close friend.

When Ferguson does eventually retire, Mourinho would certainly be among the leading candidates to replace him, but a move to Manchester now looks extremely unlikely.

The only area in which Roman Abramovich has shown any consistency since taking over at Chelsea is in his ability to surprise.

Initially, the billionaire owner did want someone else this summer. But when Pep Guardiola resisted Abramovich’s advances and opted to take charge at Bayern Munich for next season , the Russian oligarch was forced to think again.

Mourinho, he now realises, is his best option. A manager who is as close as it gets to someone who can guarantee success. He is a serial winner, having lifted the league title in all four countries he has worked — Portugal, England, Italy and Spain — and led Porto and Inter Milan to the Champions League crown.

Chelsea Boss Roman Abramovich knows Mourinho is capable of rebuilding a squad boasting some tremendous talent in players such as Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard, but which still requires an overhaul. 

And the Portuguese has dropped the biggest hint yet he’s keen on a return to Stamford Bridge when his time at the Bernabeu comes to an end.

Criticism about the vacation of Obama daughters

Speaking on a radio program, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, ripped into President Obama for sending his daughters, Sasha and Malia, on a vacation while the federal government is being squeezed by the so-called sequester.
ThinkProgress, a progressive blog, reports that King was speaking on the "Mickelson in the Morning" program. A listener named Carla called in and began to reprimand Michelle Obama for vacationing in the Bahamas with her two daughters.
"It's hard to stomach. When we're tightening our belts, we should either all do it or none of us do it," she said, referring to sequestration – the recent round of automatic spending cuts that went into effect earlier this month when Congress and President Obama failed to reach a budget agreement.
Earlier this week, conservative news outlet Breitbart.com reported that the girls were on spring break, and named the resort where they were staying.
King agreed with the caller, saying, "Carla, you're on point and on the mark all the way through." King then went on to mention that the girls vacationed in Mexico the year before.
"He sent the daughters to spring break in Mexico a year ago," King said, referring to President Obama. "That was at our expense, too. And now to the Bahamas at one of the most expensive places there. That is the wrong image to be coming out of the White House."
The Obamas pay for family vacations themselves. But critics complain that those costs do not include security measures.
King, who is mulling over a Senate bid in 2014, has been an outspoken critic of President Obama for years. During the 2008 presidential campaign, King predicted that should Obama beat John McCain, "then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 ..."

Whats wrong with This Boy? Justin bieber Spotted Walking Shirtless at The Airport

Though Olivia Wilde tried to plead with him quite reasonably, Justin Bieber is back to his shirtless ways.
The 19-year-old singer was seen passing airport security in Lodz, Poland, on Monday. For whatever reason, he thought it was appropriate to take his shirt off, again.
Now, we've all passed through airport security at some point and we all know it's no laughing matter. Shoes often need to be removed as well as belts, keys and phones. But shirts? Whatever Bieber's shirt was made out of, it likely doesn't need to be removed. It's not made of metal.
To make matters worse, the temperature in Lodz at the time was about 14 degrees. "He wasn't told to take off his clothes," a spokeswoman for the Lodz airport told Reuters. "He had no metal objects on him. He's quite skinny so I assume he was probably freezing."
This is hardly the first time the Biebs has been photographed with his shirt off (exhibit A: his much talked-about 19th-birthday celebrations in London earlier this month).
More often than not, he's also the one doing the snapping. As a big fan of his own ripped abs, Biebo likes to share his grown-up belly with his fans.
Last time the media paid attention to his rather odd behavior (constantly shirtless, lunging at the paparazzi, those types of things), Bieber took to Instagram to "clear things up." We wonder what he'll have to say for himself this time.

After Taking Off Her Clóthes on Camera, Waje Wants Another Man

It appears the whole drama of taking off her clóthes during the shoot of her video is a gimmick to show the guys that she's still got 'hot body' despite being a single mother. Her relationship with the man who imprégnated her didn't work out, so she is hunting for a new man.

Beyonce shows support for gay marriage, reposts equal-sign logo

Queen Bey posted a picture of a handwritten red note Tuesday on Instagram with a variation of her signature "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" lyrics scrawled on it.

"If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it #wewillunite4marriageequality! B" she wrote. The pic was liked by more than 220,000 people in about 24 hours.
Her sentiments echo those of husband Jay-Z, who in May 2011 equated the issue to being racist against African Americans.

"It's discrimination, plain and simple," he told CNN, adding, "What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love... That's their business.”

Hugh Hefner, the ultimate Playboy, has claimed to have slept with more than 1,000 women. But the 86-year-old insisted he had never cheated during his three marriages.

Asked by Esquire magazine how many girls he’d had séx with, he said: “How could I possibly know? Over a thousand, I’m sure. There were chunks of my life when I was married, and when I was married I never cheated. But I made up for it when I wasn’t married. You have to keep your hand in."

Hefner wed for a third time last year to British model Crystal Harris, 26. He had been married to his first wife Mildred Williams in 1949.

They had two children together, Christie and David, but the two went their separate ways in 1959.

Meet Wizkid’s Younger Sister, Lade (PICTURED)

TON can authoritatively unveil to its readers the younger sister of Nigerian pop star, Ayodeji Balogun, well known as Wizkid. The young and beautiful sister of the singer is call Lade. 

A source who know the singer’s family too well divulged to us that Lade is cherished by Wizkid as he doesn’t joke with his sister with anybody.

The young girl attends one of the expensive schools in the South West of Nigeria.
